Helen I. Davis papers
Scope and Contents
This collection contains the personal papers of Helen I. Davis '12 (1890-1958). The materials had been reviewed and occasionally annotated by Harriet B. Creighton, Professor of Botany from 1940-1974. Materials concerning Davis' years as a student at Wellesley consist of botany notebooks, lecture notes, laboratory directions, and a photograph album. Materials from her time as a professor include photograph albums of the construction of the Botanic Gardens and botany building (Sage Hall), photographs of plans for plantings around campus buildings, and a sabbatical report.

Biographical Note
Helen I. Davis, Class of 1912, was associated with Wellesley College for many years. She was an assistant in the Department of Botany from 1912-1914; curator of the Botany Museum from 1913-1914; Instructor of horticulture and landscape gardening from 1915-1919, 1920-1921; Assistant Professor from 1921-1930; Associate Director of Botany Greenhouses and Gardens from 1925-1930; and Associate Professor of Botany and Director of Botanic Gardens from 1930-1947.
