Scope and Contents

Collection consists of Wellesley College student publications dating from 1883 to 2006. Includes literary, news, science, music and cultural organization publications. Predominantly files only include the publication itself, with the exception of files 21-26 in Box 7, which also include administrative records internal to the publication.

Arrangement

6P Student Publications is an artificial collection. Artificial collections are created by Archivists bringing together multiple smaller acquisitions to the archives from multiple creators, and organizing them based on their subject. This is unlike most archival collections which are organized by provenance, meaning by the original creator, and which maintain the original creator’s arrangement of the collection. Collection is predominantly arranged in alphabetical order by publication title, with the exception of a listing of oversize publications at the end (The Galenstone, The Nubian Times, and the literary paper Re Da Da).
