Human Resources Office records
Scope and Contents
Collection includes records of the Human Resources Office (formerly called the Personnel Office), dating from 1882-1985. Collection consists of three series. Series I. Administrative records (1882-1912, 1942, 1946, 1960-1978) includes a study of salaries, job descriptions and notices of openings, a file on Personnel Office employees, a list of service, maintenance, and part time employees, and financial records of the Administration Cashier (1882-1912). Of note are communications from the College Dietician regarding food shortages during World War II. Series II. Labor issues and union records (1936, 1945-1976) includes communications from the organizations The Friday Movement, the Building Service Employees’ International Union, Local 254, a file of clippings and communications regarding labor issues, the College-Union Agreement document (this file overlaps with Series I. as it also contains manuals for maintenance and service employees). Series III. Informational booklets and policies (1956-1985) includes booklets regarding faculty housing and the Classified Salary Plan, documentation of various personnel policies, and information regarding benefits and pensions.
