Pages 1220-1326, circa 1973-1983
Scope and Contents
This series contains three copies of Elizabeth R. Payne’s manuscript titled “Anne Whitney: Nineteenth Century Sculptor and Liberal:” a typescript, believed to be Payne’s copy, and two photocopies of the typescript likely made by the editor Lynn Groh. The second photocopy is heavily edited by Groh and includes additional notes and a copy of Groh’s article “A Piece of a Gone Century: From the Correspondence of Anne Whitney, Poet-Sculptor, 1821-1915.” The typescript is undated but would have been created sometime before Elizabeth Payne’s death in 1973. The two photocopies are also undated but would have been made between Payne’s death in 1973 and Lynn Groh’s death in 1983.
