From the Collection:

Collection consists of records of the Wellesley College Class of 1927 both from their time as undergraduates and from their lives after Wellesley (1923-1997). Contains materials created by individual class members as well as by the class as a body. Records include coursework. scrapbooks and a photo album, financial records, reunion records, and correspondence (both personal, and in the administrative capacity of Class Officers).

Biographical / Historical

Helen Sawin was from Mattoon, Illinois. While at Wellesley she was the Vice President of Mathematics Club, and in 1927 she graduated Phi Beta Kappa as a Wellesley College Scholar, having completed the honors thesis "A Study of the Chemical Constitution of the Nitrosoiia phthols by Means of Absorption Spectra." In 1927 she married Hugh Guille Bergen; they had two daughters and a son.
