Scope and Contents
Records of the Class of 1916, dating from 1900-1994, consisting of event programs, course materials, notebooks, correspondence, Wellesley Students’ Aid Society records, financial records, reunion records, scrapbooks, photo albums and photographs, and a diary; concerning undergraduate and alumnae activities. Also includes a file relating to “The Wellesley Idea” exhibit on the origins of the College (1940).

Biographical Note
Jean N. Watt (married name Gorely) was from Wellesley, Massachusetts. While at Wellesley College she was the Recording Secretary of Society Zeta Alpha (the literary and theatrical society), and her senior year she was on the Shakespeare Tercentennial Committee. She married Charles P. Gorely in 1917 and had one daughter. She worked as a writer, lecturer, and museum consultant. Her speciality was early English ceramics, and 18th century art. She and her husband founded the Wedgwood Club in 1933 (to preserve and exhibit fine china). She was published in the Christian Science Monitor, the Boston Evening Transcript, and Antique Magazine. In 1950 she published the book “Wedgwood.”
