Scope and Contents
Records of the Class of 1899, dating from 1894 to 1967, consisting of invitations, clippings, correspondence, histories, constitutions, photo albums, gavel; concerning class activities as students and alumnae, reunions, and individual members of the class. Also includes the papers of Mary B. Gilson, who worked in industrial relations for decades and taught economics at the University of Chicago from 1931 until 1942.

Biographical / Historical
Mabel Lovett Bishop was from Avon, Connecticut. In 1900 she continued her studies at the New Britain State Normal School in Connecticut. She then lived in Schenectady, New York, while spending summers in Avon, Connecticut. She started teaching in 1900, and in 1907 she moved to Hazelton, Pennsylvania to teach German. In 1915 she moved to Montclair, New Jersey, and in 1918 to Toledo, Ohio.
