Scope and Contents

Series I. consists of the papers of class member Florence S.M. Crofut. Materials from her time as a student at Wellesley College include course materials and class notes (1893-1897). Records created as an alumnae include correspondence with other class members, photographs and scrapbook materials, records of the Committee of Undergraduate Activities and the Graduate Council, as well as records created during Crofut’s time as President of the Connecticut Wellesley College Club in Hartford, Connecticut (circa 1906-1923).

Biographical / Historical

Florence Sidette Marcy Crofut went on to receive her MA in 1898 from Trinity College (Hartford, Connecticut), in Philosophy and German. She was the Secretary of the Alumnae Association from 1910-1912, the Secretary of the Wellesley Graduate Council in 1912 (the Council’s founding year), and the President of the Connecticut College Club in Hartford during the 1910s and 1920s. She became an honorary member of the National Authors’ Association in 1938.
