Series IV. Ruth Sener papers, 1909-1959
Scope and Contents
Records of the Class of 1909, dating from 1909 to 1969, consisting of admission and course materials, correspondence, clippings, notebooks, photographs, photograph albums, programs, and scrapbooks; concerning class meetings and the social and academic activities of members of the class as undergraduates, and information on reunions, careers and activities of members of the class as alumnae. Includes a map of Class Trees through 1932. Of note are the papers of Sophia M. Robinson, who was a social worker and the national Executive Director of the National Council of Jewish Women in the 1940s.

Biographical / Historical
Ruth Sener was from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She was the sister of Anna Sener Rusk (Class of 1911) and the aunt of Margaret Sener Rusk (Class of 1948). In 1915 she was living in Wellesley's College Club housing in Philadelphia, and working with the Christian Association. She worked as an industrial secretary for the North Philadelphia Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), and served on the Board of Trustees and as Chairman of the House Committee of the Lancaster YWCA. She was one of the founders of the Lancaster Country Bird Club, and worked to conserve the Hawk Mountain Bird Sanctuary (Kempton, Pennsylvania).
