"The Farm", 1931, undated
Scope and Content
This series contains the journals and other writings of Emma DeLong Mills, which encompass the years 1910 through 1980. The journals cover such topics as social life, academic life, activist work with China, art and music, literature, international relations and politics, and travels. Significantly, they help document American political opinion toward China and Taiwan circa World War II, as well as the day-to-day life of working with several non-profit organizations. Also included are transcriptions of some of the journals by Thomas DeLong. Other writings include an unpublished work describing her childhood, as well as an unpublished edition of the diary of a early naval engineer who married Mills' great aunt.
