Biographical Note

Blair graduated from Wellesley College in the class of 1917 and lived in the town of Wellesley for decades. She was an active alumna, acting as class vice president and president from 1962 to 1977. In 1917, Eleanor Blair witnessed the fire that destroyed the original College Hall. Years later, after locating the broken and charred pillars from the building, she organized her class to restore them. Dedicated in 1972, the memorial was given to the college by the Class of 1917.
